Our Philosophy

At Sparrows Early Learning Centre, we believe that tamariki  should be experience a curriculum that empowers them to learning and grow.  Within a safe, nurturing child lead learning environment, facilated by passionate attuned kaiako.

In collaboration with Tamariki, parents and whanau kaikao will create a individualised learning journey for you tamaiti (child).  Supporting and equipping them with the necessary skills and confidence that will set them up for a positive attitude towards lifelong learning.

We will embrace and empower your tamaiti (child) as an individual as they grow and develop in a welcoming, warm, caring and creative learning environment. This will encourage their natural desire to make sense of their world around them, providing for them the opportunity to acquire knowledge in collaboration with children, parents, whānau and communities, to create a local curriculum for their setting. Understood in this way, the curriculum or whāriki is a ‘mat for all to stand on’.through active exploration within an environment that invites curiosity, and provides a “home away from home” culture. We strongly believe in integrity and equity irrespective of age, ability, gender or ethnicity; where all children are valued members of our learning community, and are cherished and empowered in their individuality.

As a mixed-age centre, tuakana-teina is at the heart of what we do here at Little Sparrows Educare. This is seen through siblings and whānau learning and playing alongside each other, as well as the strong relationships that the younger and older children develop from being together, nurtured through their natural desire to learn with and from one another.
